We will be holding our 2026 Legislative Delegations Public Hearing for local bills and local budget requests. The meeting will convene at 1:30 PM in the LaBelle City Hall, located 481 W. Hickpochee Ave LaBelle Fl 33935 and will last until 3:30 PM or at the completion of the agenda.
Local Bills
The deadline for submitting local bills to the Delegation is Noon on September 3, 2025. The original set of documents (letter sized and 3-hole punched) must be forwarded to Representative Lauren Melo's office, 3299 Tamiami Trial East, Suite 212 Naples FL 34112. Additionally, an electronic version of the local bill must be emailed in PDF format to Kathleen.Elrod@FLHouse.gov All proposals for a local bill are expected to be presented at the hearing and must be drafted in bill form. Unless there is an emergency, the Delegation will consider for introduction only those bill that have been presented at the hearing. Decisions on whether to introduce local legislation will be made at the hearing.
If the local Legislative Delegation agrees to support the bill and introduce the bill, a legal advertisement of the proposed bill must be placed in a newspaper of general circulation 30 days prior to introduction in the House or Senate unless the bill contains a referendum provision. The local entity requesting the proposed bill will be responsible for placing the legal advertisement in news media.
According to sections 11.021 and 11.03, Florida Statutes, evidence that notice has been properly published must be submitted before a local bill, not subject to referendum, can be introduced. The notice must be broad enough to include all matters contained in the body of the proposed legislation, although the specific contents need not be listed in detailed form. The function of the notice requirement is to provide reasonable notice to a person whose interests may be directly impacted by the proposed legislation so that they may inquire further into the details of the local bill. Additionally, if they so desire, that person may seek to prevent enactment or to persuade the Legislature to change the substance of the proposed bill.

Attached is a Request to Appear form for those who wish to be placed on the agenda. This form must be emailed to Kathleen.Elrod@FLHouse.gov
No later than 12:01 PM Friday, August 22, 2025.
General Public Comments
Members of the public wishing to comment, will be on the agenda at the end of the delegation meeting and will be required to complete a Public Comment Request card, which will be available at the check-in desk on September 16, 2025. Order of general public comments will be in the order of which the request was received.
The agenda for the Hendry County Delegation hearing will be released to news media on August 29, 2025 to allow the public ample time to prepare comments if they so desire.

The 2025 Brevard County Legislative Delegation Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 30th, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Brevard County Commission Chambers, located at 2725 Judge Fran Jameison Way in Melbourne. Individuals and organizations that wish to be placed on the agenda to provide remarks to the delegation must complete an Appearance Request Form by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19th.
Members of the public that wish to provide comments to the delegation, but do not submit an Appearance Request Form by the deadline, may complete a public comment card at the event. The Gilchrist County Legislative Delegation will be holding its annual public hearing on Monday, October 20th, 2025 at 9:00 am. The meeting will be held in the Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners Building at 209 SE 1st Street, Trenton, FL 32693.
The Legislative Delegation includes the Delegation Chair, State Representative Chad Johnson (R-Chiefland) and State Senator Jennifer Bradley (R-Fleming Island). The Delegation Hearing is intended to afford local residents and officials an opportunity to request legislation or state funding, as well as to express opinions on any other matter of state concern, in advance of the 2026 Regular Legislative Session, slated to begin in Tallahassee on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026. This hearing is open to the public.
